The Arrondissement Strasbourg is an administrative district in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until the end of 2015 ) in France . Its seat is in Strasbourg .

history

On January 1, 2015, the previous arrondissements of Strasbourg-Ville and Strasbourg-Campagne were dissolved and the arrondissement of Strasbourg was re-established. While the urban arrondissement was completely absorbed into the new arrondissement, this received the municipalities in the vicinity of the city from the rural arrondissement.

geography

The arrondissement borders in the east on the German administrative district Freiburg in Baden-Württemberg . Furthermore, it borders on all other arrondissements in the department: in the south on the arrondissement Sélestat-Erstein , in the west on the arrondissements Molsheim and Saverne and in the north on the arrondissement Haguenau-Wissembourg .
