The canton of Strasbourg-2 is a French constituency in the arrondissement of Strasbourg in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Strasbourg district". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Strasbourg. From 1871 to 1919 there was no further subdivision of the then "Strasbourg district (city)". On June 28, 1919, the canton became part of the newly founded arrondissement Strasbourg-Ville. On March 22, 2015, the area of ​​the canton was redesigned. In place of the arrondissement Strasbourg-Ville, the new arrondissement Strasbourg , which also includes municipalities in the vicinity of Strasbourg.
