Canton of Seltz
The canton Seltz was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement of Wissembourg , in Bas-Rhin region and in the region of Alsace ; its main town was Seltz , Richard Stoltz was the representative in the General Council of the Département from 2001.
The canton Seltz was 106.49 km² and had (1999) 12,055 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 113 inhabitants per km².
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Wissembourg District". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the Wissembourg arrondissement. From 1871 to 1919 there was no further subdivision of the former Weißenburg district . On June 28, 1919, the canton again became part of the Wissembourg arrondissement. On March 22, 2015, the canton was dissolved. All municipalities now belong to the canton of Wissembourg in the Arrondissement of Haguenau-Wissembourg .
