Canton of Soultz-sous-Forêts
The Canton Soultz-sous-Forêts was 2015 a French constituency in the Arrondissement Haguenau-Wissembourg , in Bas-Rhin region and in the region of Alsace ; its main town was Soultz-sous-Forêts , and from 2001 Jean-Laurent Vonau was the representative in the General Council of the Département.
The canton of Soultz-sous-Forêts was 150.56 km² and had 19,486 inhabitants (2006), which corresponds to a population density of 129 inhabitants per km².
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Wissembourg District". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of the Wissembourg arrondissement. From 1871 to 1919 there was no further subdivision of the then "Weißenburg District". On June 28, 1919, the canton again became part of the Wissembourg arrondissement. On March 22, 2015, the canton was dissolved.
