The Air Force Office (LwA) was one of the two higher command authorities of the Air Force (HöhKdoBehLw) based in Cologne-Wahn . From 1956 to 1962 it was called the General Air Force Office . It was dissolved at the end of June 30, 2013.
tasks
The Air Force Office performed central tasks for the Air Force, which did not serve the direct command of operations (the Air Force Command was responsible for this ). In some cases, tasks were performed for the entire Bundeswehr ( flight operations , flight safety ). In the Luftwaffe, the Air Force Office was primarily responsible for general military and technical training for soldiers as well as for the deployment logistics specific to the weapon system.

- At the head of the Air Force Office was the head of the office with the rank of major general . He led the Air Force Office and the departments directly subordinate to him.
- Deputy head of office and head of departments with specialist tasks
- The deputy head of office was directly subordinate to the head of office, at the same time he was head of the departments with specialist tasks in the Air Force Office. He held the rank of brigadier general .
- Chief of Staff
- The chief of staff , in the rank of Colonel i. G., led the departments of the staff that served to support the head of office.

- the Aviation Safety Department in the Bundeswehr (Abbot FlSichhBw), led by the General Aviation Safety in the Bundeswehr (GenFlSichhBw, unofficially called GenFlusi)
- the Center for the Development of the Air Force (ZWELw), led by the General Development of the Air Force ,
- the Air Force Press and Information Center (Abbot PrInfoZLw), which, among other things, managed and updated the Air Force's website,
- the flight operations department in the Bundeswehr (Abbot FlBtrbBw),
- the personnel structure, organization, controlling, effort limitation and rationalization department of the Air Force (Abbot POCARLw) and
- the Luftwaffe Inspection Group (Grp InspizLw).

Subordinate to the Air Force Office at the division level
- the Air Force Training Command (LwAusbKdo)
- The LwAusbKdo steered the training in the air force and led the air force training regiment as well as the schools of the air force.
- the Air Force Weapons System Command (WaSysKdo Lw).
- The WaSysKdo Lw was responsible for the air force armament and material management of the air force and the flying weapon systems of the armed forces as well as the operational logistics of the air force. He was subordinate to the Air Force Maintenance Regiment 1 in Erding and the Air Force Maintenance Regiment 2 in Diepholz as well as the Weapon System Support Center in Landsberg am Lech .
The following were also subordinate to the Air Force Office:
- the General Doctor of the Air Force (GenArztLw) in Siegburg ,
- the legal advisory center Luftwaffe Wahn (RBZ Lw WAHN),
- the air traffic control office of the Bundeswehr (AFSBw) in Frankfurt am Main and
- the Air Force Support Group Wahn (LwUstgGrp WAHN).
