The Center for Air Operations (ZentrLuftOp) is a higher command authority of the Air Force and subordinate to the Air Force Command. One of their main tasks is to provide a core staff for a command post for commanding air forces in action.
The core components of the center emerged from the Air Force Operations Command, which was already stationed at the site and dissolved on June 30, 2013 . The air operations center is spread across the Uedem, Kalkar and Münster locations (geographic information center of the Air Force).
assignment
The center is tasked with operating the Air Force Operations Center (OPZLw) , which is colocated with the CAOC Uedem, as well as bundling mission-related management tasks of the Air Force for commanding air forces on a tactical level. The Space Situation Center , together with the National Situation and Command Center for Security in the Airspace, is part of the Operations Center and an integral part of the Air Force's Air Operations Center. The center also has the mandate to provide the core functions of a deployable multinational air force command post for commanding air forces. This so-called Joint Force Air Component Headquarters (JFAC HQ) plans and manages the deployment of air forces that have been put together by several nations as required, for example within the framework of the NATO Response Force (NRF) or the European Battle Group (EU BG). Up to two Air Support Operations Centers (ASOC) can be provided for smaller deployments.
history
As part of the restructuring of the Bundeswehr, the center was set up with effect from July 1, 2013. Since July 1, 2015, in the ZentrLuftOp, military air traffic control , the air force operations command service and the air force elements of the Joint Tactical Fire Support (STF) have been combined in the ZentrLuftOp to form the flight management service to be redesigned. The tasks of the dissolved air traffic control office of the Bundeswehr , which were not transferred to the aviation office of the Bundeswehr , will in future be mapped in the ZentrLuftOp. With the reorganization, the Air Force's command and control support department is also subordinate to the Air Operations Center .
