The Von Seydlitz barracks in Kalkar / Uedem on the Beginenberg is a barracks of the German Armed Forces and is the headquarters of the Luftwaffe Air Operations Center . It is named after the Prussian cavalry general Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz .
history
Kalkar has been the Bundeswehr base since 1969 . The Von Seydlitz barracks in the Altkalkar district houses, among other things, the command authorities of the Air Force and NATO , in particular the National Situation and Command Center for air security and the Joint Air Power Competence Center , which is responsible for monitoring aviation security in Germany .
