The Command Operative Command Air Force ( KdoOpFüLuSK ) was a command authority of the German Air Force that provides the core staff for a command post for the command of air forces . It was subordinate to the Air Force Command. It was stationed in the Von Seydlitz barracks in Kalkar .
assignment
The assignment was to provide the core functions of a deployable multinational air force command post. This so-called Joint Force Air Component Headquarters (JFAC HQ) plans and manages the deployment of air forces that have been put together by several nations as required. If Germany as the lead nation is commissioned to deploy this command element in EU or NATO-led operations (e.g. within the framework of the EU Battlegroup or the NATO Response Force ), additional forces from the Bundeswehr and usually through international partners.
In basic operations, no task forces were subordinate to the command.
In terms of troops, the KdoOpFüLuSK was responsible for the National Air Defense Command, the Space Situation Center and the Kalkar Air Force Support Group.
history
The command was set up as Luftwaffenkommando Nord ( LwKdo Nord ) on April 1, 1994 in Kalkar. From February 1, 1957, there was a brief command of the same name in Münster . It was reclassified to the Luftwaffe Group Command North on October 1, 1957 . The command set up in 1994 was renamed to Command Operational Command Air Force on October 1, 2001, in the course of taking over Air Force Structure 5.
In recent years various exercises have taken place, most recently in November 2011 in the multinational, joint armed forces exercise STEADFAST JUNCTURE under the leadership of the Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum as the conclusion of NATO's certification process for the NATO Response Force 2012.
In the period from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012, the KdoOpFüLuSK, as Air Component Command (ACC) of the NATO Response Force 2012 (NRF 2012), was in the one-year readiness phase, with Germany for the air force for the first time in the history of the Bundeswehr had taken on the role of the lead nation.
The command was dissolved on June 30, 2013. Its core components have been transferred to the Air Force's Air Operations Center .

The commander was a lieutenant general . He was at the same time Commander of the NATO Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) Uedem and Executive Director of the Joint Air Power Competence Center (JAPCC) in Kalkar.
