Friedrich Obleser

Friedrich-Erich Obleser (born February 21, 1923 in Pottenstein / Lower Austria , † June 5, 2004 in Neunkirchen ) was a German officer, most recently lieutenant general . In 1976/77 he was head of the Air Force Office , 1977/78 Commanding General of the Air Force Support Command and from 1978 to 1983 Inspector of the Air Force .

Wehrmacht

Friedrich Obleser joined the Air Force as an officer candidate on October 1, 1940 , where he was assigned to the Air Force Training Regiment 61 in Oschatz . Here Obleser was appointed lieutenant on April 1, 1942 . His training as a pilot took place at Air War School 5 in Breslau and at Hunting School 4 in Fürth . On January 1, 1943, Obleser came to the Eastern Front as a pilot in the 8th Squadron of Jagdgeschwader 52 (JG 52). Already on July 6, 1943 Obelser rose there to the rank of captain of the 8th season of JG 52. Up to a serious wound on December 30, 1944 Obleser achieved 120 victories on over 500 enemy flights, for which he was awarded the German Cross on November 14, 1943 and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on February 7, 1944 . Unfit to fly after being wounded, Obleser, meanwhile appointed first lieutenant on February 1, 1944, experienced the end of the war in a hospital and was then a prisoner of war until May 30, 1945 .
