Horst Jungkurth

Horst Jungkurth (born January 24, 1933 in Osnabrück ) is a lieutenant general a. D. the air force of the German armed forces . From 1985 to 1987 he was Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr and from 1987 to 1991 Inspector of the Air Force .

Military career

Horst Jungkurth joined the Air Force in 1956 and completed his training as an officer and jet pilot by 1958 . Until 1964 followed a use in the fighter-bomber squadron 31 and the reconnaissance squadron 51 "Immelmann" and 53. Jungkurth was promoted to captain during this time . In 1964 he was assigned to the command academy of the Bundeswehr . From 1967 to 1971 he was commander of the flying group and then deputy commodore of the light combat squadron 42. He was promoted to colonel until 1974. He was squadron commodore of the light combat squadron 44. This was followed by managerial positions at the air fleet command in the Cologne air force barracks in Wahn and with the command staff of the air force in Bonn- Hardtberg . In 1977 Jungkurth became Brigadier General and General Aviation Safety . A position as head of department in the command staff of the Air Force was followed by command of the 3rd  Air Force Division in Kalkar with the rank of major general . After his appointment as Lieutenant General , he became Commander of the 4th Allied Tactical Air Force (4th ATAF) at the NATO Air Force Headquarters for Central Europe.

In 1985 Jungkurth became Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr Wolfgang Altenburg .

From October 1, 1987 to March 31, 1991, Lieutenant General Horst Jungkurth was the eighth inspector of the Air Force.

Jungkurth is married and has three children.
