Hans Heinrich Block

Hans Heinrich Block (born September 30, 1938 in Alsfeld ) is a German officer ( retired Brigadier General ) and pilot.

Life

Promotions

Block joined the German Armed Forces in 1959 and completed his basic training with the Air Force in Husum . In 1959/60 he attended the Air Force Officers' School (OSLw) in Neubiberg . He then received flight training at Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, Arizona. From 1963 to 1969 he was a pilot in Fighter Bomber Wing 32 in Lechfeld .

From 1969 to 1971 he completed the 14th general staff course (L) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. From 1971 to 1973 he was A3 in the 1st Air Force Division in Meßstetten. In 1973 he became commander of the flying group in Fighter Bomber Wing 33 in Büchel. From 1976 to 1980 he was a consultant in the Air Force Command (Fü L III 3) in Bonn. From 1980 to 1983 he was a commodore with the 74 "Mölders" fighter-bomber squadron in Neuburg an der Donau. In 1983 he became Chief of Staff of the 1st Air Force Division in Meßstetten. From 1985 to 1988 he was Head of Section Fü L III 3 in Bonn.

In 1988 he became an operational general staff officer at the HQ Allied Forces Central Europe (AFCENT) in Brunssum. In 1991 he became General Aviation Safety in the Bundeswehr in Cologne-Wahn.
