Helmut Heinz

Helmut Heinz (born November 29, 1921 in Wadern , Saarland; † 2000 ) was a German lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr .

Heinz completed his school education in 1939 with the final exam and joined the Wehrmacht on December 1, 1939 . At the end of the war, after training as an officer and various troop and staff assignments, he was captain, first general staff officer (Ia) and regimental adjutant in an anti-aircraft regiment.

After the war he worked for an industrial company in Saarland, most recently as a department head.

In 1957 he joined the Bundeswehr as a captain. From 1961 to 1963 he took part in the 5th general staff course (L) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. In 1971 Colonel i. G. Chief of Staff of the 2nd Air Force Division in Birkenfeld. As Brigadier General, Heinz was Head of the Armaments and Weapons Systems Department in the Air Force Command Staff from 1971 to 1974 (FüL VII). In 1974 the major general became commander of the Air Force Support Group South in Karlsruhe. From 1976 to 1979 Deputy Inspector of the Air Force , Lieutenant General Gerhard Limberg and Lieutenant General Friedrich Obleser , and from 1979 to 1982 Deputy Inspector General of the Federal Armed Forces , General Jürgen Brandt , also inspector of the Central Military Services (ZMilDBw). After a farewell visit to the President in 1982 lieutenant general who entered Luftwaffe in retirement .

In 1979 he received the Great Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
