Harald Wust
Harald Wust (born January 14, 1921 in Kiel , † October 2, 2010 in Bonn ) was a German officer, most recently in the rank of general . In 1975/76 he was deputy inspector general and from 1976 to 1978 he was the first air force officer, inspector general of the Bundeswehr .
Life
During World War II , Harald Wust was a soldier in the air intelligence service . He became a lieutenant in 1941 and later fought as a first lieutenant and company commander on the Eastern Front. In 1945 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets.
After returning home from captivity, Wust studied social pedagogy, worked for an authority in Eutin and became a children's book author.
In 1956 he joined the newly created air force of the Bundeswehr as a captain, and from 1958 to 1959 he attended the Air Force's first general staff course. After completing this course, which he completed as the best in the course, he went through various assignments in staffs and in schools. From 1975 to 1976 he was Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr .
Since November 30, 1976 Wust was in the rank of general as the first air force officer General Inspector of the Bundeswehr. After various internal squabbles with officials and officers of the Ministry of Defense and public attacks in connection with an espionage affair, he resigned prematurely in 1978 and was given retirement.
