Aarne Emil Kreuzinger-Janik (born April 13, 1950 in Lübeck ) is a retired German Lieutenant General . D. the air force of the German armed forces . From 2006 to 2009 he was Commander of the Air Force Command and from 2009 to 2012 the 14th  Inspector of the Air Force .

Military career

Kreuzinger-Janik joined the Bundeswehr in 1969 and went through officer training and basic aviation training to become a pilot for jet aircraft until 1974 . From 1974 to 1981 he was employed with the Fighter Bomber Wing 31 “Boelcke” in Nörvenich as a pilot on the Lockheed F-104 G “Starfighter”, intelligence officer and operational staff officer. After participating in training to become a general staff officer at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg from 1981 to 1983, he was employed there as a planning staff officer until 1985. During this time, Kreuzinger-Janik survived two crashes with the "Starfighter".

1985 Kreuzinger-Janik was a squadron commander of the 1st Fighter Bomber Squadron of Fighter Bomber Wing 34 "Allgäu" to Memmingen displaced in 1988 as a department director in the Department of A3 with the command of the 3rd Air Division of Kalkar and 1989 as a study project officer at the Office for Studies and exercises of the Bundeswehr Bergisch Gladbach . In 1990 he returned to Fighter Bomber Wing 34 as Commander of the Flying Group. In 1992 he became a G3 staff officer at the NATO headquarters SHAPE in Mons / Belgium .

His first ministerial assignment followed from 1994 to 1996 as a consultant for basic military policy in the command staff of the armed forces (Fü S) in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn . During his time as commodore of the reconnaissance squadron 51 "Immelmann" in Jagel from 1996 to 1997 he was deployed as commodore of the air force squadron 1 in Piacenza (Italy) and from 1997 to 1999 head of division in the then command center of the Bundeswehr in Bonn, which was responsible for operations management the Bundeswehr contingent was responsible. After serving as Deputy Commander and General for National Territorial Tasks in Defense Area II from 1999 to 2000, he returned to a post in the Air Force.

From 2000 to 2003 he was head of department in the command staff of the Air Force (Fü L III) in Bonn, and in 2003 he took over command of the 3rd Air Force Division based in Berlin-Gatow . On June 1, 2006, Kreuzinger-Janik became the commander of the air force command in Cologne's Wahn air force barracks , which he led until October 26, 2009. On 29 October 2009 he transferred the day before the Federal Minister of Defense appointed Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg , the Office of the Chief of Air Force. He followed, as in 2003 as division commander, Lieutenant General Klaus-Peter Stieglitz . He held this position until his retirement. He handed over the official business to his successor Lieutenant General Karl Müllner . Kreuzinger-Janik was retired with effect from April 30, 2012.

Kreuzinger-Janik has flown over 2,800 flight hours on various aircraft types, especially on the F-104 and the Tornado .

Kreuzinger-Janik is married and has two children.
