Air Force Support Command
The Air Force Support Command (LwUKdo) was a higher command authority in the Wahn air force barracks in Cologne . It existed from 1970 to 2001.
history
On October 1, 1970, the Air Force Support Command was established in the Wahn Air Force Barracks . The predecessor of the LwUKdo was the “Inspection of Supply and Troop Technology” in the Air Force Office . On September 30, 2001, the LwUKdo was dissolved and from October 1, 2001 it was merged with the Air Force Material Office (MatALw) to form the Air Force Material Command (LwMatKdo).
Areas of responsibility
- The management of the subordinate large associations and departments
- Participation in the logistical planning and preparation of military operations
- The enforcement of the instructions issued by other specialist units of the Air Force in the subordinate area
- Ensuring all logistical support tasks for the air force (transport of personnel and material)
- Planning and implementation of the technical and logistical training for the entire air force as well as the army and naval aviators
- Development and operation of logistic processes
- Logistic support for other branches of the armed forces
- Inspection of all associations and departments of the Air Force as well as certain associations of naval aviation in the field of material conservation and management
- Participation in the development and procurement process for new weapon systems and devices
- Planning, management, control and management of the budget for material maintenance

As a higher command authority, the Air Force Support Command (LwUKdo) was subordinated directly to the Air Force Inspector (InspL) and for operations to the Federal Minister of Defense (BMVg).
