The Luftwaffe Material Command (LwMatKdo) was a logistical specialist command of the Air Force . The station was based in Cologne-Wahn .

history

The command emerged from the merging of elements of the Air Force Support Command (LwUKdo) and the Air Force Materials Office (MatALw). It was set up in the Wahn air force barracks on October 1, 2001, and was taken out of service on September 30, 2006. From October 1, 2006, the Luftwaffe's weapons system command took over the task .

The Air Force Material Command was the specialist command responsible for the Air Force's logistics. This primarily comprised the repair and maintenance of Air Force equipment and airborne weapon systems of the Air Force, Army and Navy . In addition, it managed the organizations and facilities for weapon system-specific logistics.

The Air Force Material Command was led by a commander with the rank of brigadier general . His rod was over 1,000 posts the largest department of the Bundeswehr in Cologne-Wahn.

Subordinate to the Air Force Material Command as a division command were among others the Air Force Maintenance Regiment 1 , the Air Force Maintenance Regiment 2 , the Weapon System Support Center and the NATO Programming Center .
