The Weapons System Support Center (WaSysUstgZ) was an association of the German armed forces ( Luftwaffe ) established on March 1, 2002 in Landsberg am Lech . The weapon system support center was subordinate to the weapon system command of the Air Force and thus settled at regimental level. Organizationally, it was to be equated with the two air force maintenance regiments. Together with these, the weapon system support center was disbanded on appeal on December 12, 2012 at the end of 2012. At the same time, the two new weapon system support centers 1 and 2 were reorganized.

history

The weapon system support center emerged from the Air Force Supply Regiment 3 (LwVersRgt 3), which existed until February 28, 2002, and which, like all air force supply regiments of the Air Force, was dissolved as part of the so-called Air Force Structure 5.

While the depots subordinate to the LwVersRgt were largely transferred to the armed forces base , the LwWerften were subordinated to the two air force maintenance regiments in Erding and Diepholz and renamed or dissolved into the air force maintenance group . The three programming centers of the air force and the various type escort teams were subordinated to the weapons system support center. In addition, there were also the cooperation with the industry in the area of software and system maintenance and modification established as part of the introduction of new airborne weapon systems, the system support centers (SysUstgZ).

In the course of taking over Air Force Structure 6 and adapting the operational logistics, an organizational change was also implemented at the weapons system support center. The Luftwaffe's programming center for the Luftwaffe's command information system in Birkenfeld and the Luftwaffe's programming center for air defense (ProgZ LV) in Erndtebrück were dissolved on December 31, 2008 and merged into the newly established system support center for the command services of the Luftwaffe in Erndtebrück on January 1, 2009 .

The history of the Air Force's programming center for airborne weapon systems (ProgZ FlgWaSys) ended in March 2007 with the merger of the cooperation between the Air Force and EADS in the area of Eurofighter, the Eurofighter system support center in Manching, and the Panavia Tornado part of the ProgZ FlgWaSys to form the combat aircraft support center Manching. The software maintenance and modification as well as the system maintenance and support of the Eurofighter and Tornado were combined in a cooperative model.

In the course of the further reform of the Bundeswehr, the weapon system support center at the Landsberg am Lech site was dissolved together with the two air force maintenance regiments at the end of 2012. At the same time, the new weapon system support center 1 at the Erding location with the target location Manching, as well as the weapon system support center 2 in Diepholz with the target location Holzdorf / Schönewalde, which will take on the task of operational logistics.

assignment

The task of the weapon system support center was to make a significant contribution to the preparation of operational readiness and the maintenance of the operational readiness of weapon systems of the Bundeswehr. The WaSysUstgZ was a service provider for the armaments sector when introducing weapon systems as well as for operational logistics when using the systems. The association thus guaranteed continuous development support, implementation support and support in use.
