Air Force Maintenance Group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luftwaffe maintenance group is the name for maintenance and repair units of the German air force .

The name of the unit is followed by a two-digit number, of which the first number indicates that it belongs to Air Force Maintenance Regiment 1 or 2 .

The Air Force Maintenance Groups emerged in 2002 from the former Air Force shipyards. They mostly practice cooperative models with industry, with precisely defined responsibilities between civil and military personnel. This takes place both via a thematic delimitation (assemblies) and via a territorial division (northern Germany / southern Germany).

transformation

In the course of the implementation of the Air Force Structure 6, the Air Force maintenance groups and the entire operational logistics of the Air Force will also be adapted to the changed requirements. Air force maintenance groups 11 ( Neckarzimmern ), 12 ( Ummendorf ), 13 ( Landsberg am Lech ), 14 ( Erding ), 15 (Erding), 23 ( Mechernich ) and 24 ( Wunstorf ) were dissolved on December 31, 2008 and the maintenance tasks in three system centers set up on January 1, 2009 combined.

At the FlaRak system center in Wunstorf, the maintenance of the air defense missile systems will be combined in the future . The Avionics System Center , which was to be set up in Landsberg am Lech and relocated to Erding after 2012, forms the competence center for the electronic systems of airborne weapon systems, avionics and the Aircraft Technology System Center, which was set up in Erding and separate areas in Ummendorf, Penzing and Munich maintains, is responsible for the maintenance of Tornado's other technical systems .

All other Air Force maintenance groups will remain in place and their personnel will be adapted to the changed requirements and the required maintenance capacities.

Due to the very large proportion of highly specialized civilian personnel, air force maintenance groups currently have major problems with the intended reduction in the number of civilian personnel in the Bundeswehr.
