The anti-aircraft missile squadron 5 (FlaRakG 5) was an association of the German Air Force and, at the time of its decommissioning in 2013, belonged to the 1st  Air Force Division . The squadron was disbanded on January 31, 2013.

General

On April 1, 1960, it was set up as Air Defense Regiment 13 in Münster , then relocated to Soest and on July 1, 1965, the name was changed to Air Defense Missile Regiment 13, which was dissolved with the decommissioning of Nike and the introduction of the Patriot in early 1987.

On April 1, 1987, it was reorganized as anti-aircraft missile command 5 with the subordinate Patriot anti-aircraft squadrons 23, the Hawk anti -aircraft squadrons 32 and 34. On January 1, 1993, the command was renamed to anti-aircraft missile squadron 5.

From 1989 to 2009 the FlaRakG 5 was stationed in Erding before it moved to Manching near Ingolstadt, where it was decommissioned in 2013.

The anti-aircraft missile squadron 5 contributed to the protection of the German and Central European airspace as part of the expanded integrated air defense with ground-based air defense weapon systems .
