On October 1, 1978, Fighter-Bomber Wing 49 emerged from the Luftwaffe 50 weapons school in Fürstenfeldbruck . The association had, among other things, the task of training combat aircraft crews for the Alpha Jet and Tornado weapon systems and, until 1981, the training of combat observer (KBO) (today's designation: weapon system officer ) of the Phantom F-4F . At the same time, the JaboG 49 was also a task force that was supposed to fight ground targets with the light fighter-bomber Alpha Jet.
The Fighter Bomber Wing 49 was decommissioned on March 31, 1994 when Air Force Structure 4 was taken. Since no alternative was available for the basic tactical training of the future Tornado crews, the Fürstenfeldbruck flight training group was commissioned on April 1, 1994 and carried out this assignment until June 30, 1997. Other units that emerged from JaboG 49 were the support squadron, the aerial photography instructor team, the air support department and the flight safety department. They were placed under the Air Force officers' school . The paramedic was subordinated to the Aviation Medical Institute of the Air Force .
