Until 1969 Lessenich-Rißdorf was a municipality in the Euskirchen district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Today Lessenich-Rißdorf is a district of the city of Mechernich in the Euskirchen district.

Lessenich-Rißdorf consists of the two villages Lessenich and Rißdorf as well as the Zievel Castle and the Röttgerhof , which are located in the east of the municipality of Mechernich and about 1.5 kilometers apart. Today the villages are each separate district of the city of Mechernich. The former municipality of Lessenich-Rißdorf had an area of ​​7.81 km².

history

Since the 19th century Lessenich-Rißdorf formed a rural community in the Euskirchen district; initially as part of the mayor's office in Wachendorf and after the Second World War as part of the Amt of Satzvey-Wachendorf-Enzen. On July 1, 1969, the municipality was incorporated into the new municipality of Veytal by the law to reorganize the district of Euskirchen . On January 1, 1972, the community Veytal was dissolved again and Lessenich and Rißdorf came to the city of Mechernich.
