history
Weapons System Support Center 2 was set up in Penzing ( Landsberg / Lech Air Base ) on December 12, 2012 with effect from January 1, 2013 as part of a military appeal . At the same time, the Air Force Maintenance Regiment 2 (LwInsthRgt 2), in whose tradition the new unit will be continued, was dissolved on December 31, 2012.
On September 26, 2013, flight operations at Jever Air Base were suspended and an application was made to de- dedicate the air base. The Jever Air Base Squadron (FlgHStff Jever) of Air Force Maintenance Group 21 (LwInsthGrp 21) was dissolved at the end of September 2013.
As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , several units were dissolved on March 28, 2014 and, for the most part, reorganized under a new name, effective April 1, 2014.
On September 18, 2018, the Diepholz Air Base Squadron was dissolved and reorganized as the Diepholz Air Force Support Squadron. The system center 21 was also dissolved and reorganized as a separate maintenance squadron helicopter squadron 64 (AbgInsthStff HSG 64 Diepholz). The repairers of the medium-sized transport helicopter CH-53 are therefore no longer subordinate to Weapons System Support Center 2.
