Armaments area
The armaments area ( Rü ) was, in addition to the territorial defense administration , part of the Bundeswehr administration according to Article 87b of the Basic Law and thus one of the two civil organizational areas of the Bundeswehr .
When the Bundeswehr was realigned , the Bundeswehr administration was divided into the three new civilian organizational areas of Personnel (P), Equipment, Information Technology and Use (AIN) and Infrastructure, Environmental Protection and Services (IUD). The tasks of the armaments area were transferred to the AIN area with the higher federal authority Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw).
tasks
The armaments division was responsible for equipping the armed forces with the necessary defense material , especially the procurement of military armaments .
structure
The control and management of the armaments area was at the ministerial level with the armaments department.
The former armaments division was divided into the two higher federal authorities:
- the Federal Office for Defense Technology and Procurement (until 2002 the sole higher federal authority for the armaments sector)
- the Federal Office for Information Management and Information Technology of the Bundeswehr (from 2002)
and their subordinate departments.
