The material Office of the Air Force (MatALw) was a command authority of the Federal Armed Forces in the Air Force barracks delusion at its Cologne and was from 1956 to 2001.

history

On February 1, 1956, the "Preparing for material introduced the Air Force" took on the air base Cologne-Wahn its work. On June 1 of the same year this was converted into the "Air Force Material Command" and relocated to the Erding Air Base . 1957 Relocation of the command again to Cologne-Wahn and renaming on April 1, 1958 to the Air Force Material Office (MatALw).

On September 30, 2001 the office was dissolved and on October 1, 2001 it merged with the Air Force Support Command (LwUKdo) in the Air Force Material Command (LwMatKdo).

  • Implementation of material planning and requirements coverage
  • Implementation of the equipment
  • Planning and control of material maintenance
  • Development of technical service regulations (TDvs), general regulations
  • Weapon system and device processing (collaboration in the introduction of new weapon systems and devices)
  • Software maintenance and modification through technical management of the programming facilities of the Air Force
  • Special tasks, such as issuing traffic permits for military aircraft

The principle of material responsibility for all military aircraft applied, the office was responsible for the supply of spare parts for the aircraft of all three armed forces.
