The Air Force Music Corps 1 was a music corps of the Bundeswehr. The corps was set up in 1958 from parts of what would later become the Air Force Music Corps 2 in Karlsruhe and in March 1959 it was relocated to Neubiberg , a community on the southern outskirts of Munich .
On October 26, 2011, the Federal Defense Minister announced the dissolution of the music corps as part of the Bundeswehr reform . On March 24, 2014, Air Force Music Corps 1 was decommissioned with a solemn appeal; the final dissolution took place on June 30, 2014.
task
The music corps looked after the Bundeswehr locations in Upper Bavaria , Swabia , Franconia and the Upper Palatinate during the military ceremony . In addition, it held a lively concert activity in the context of public relations. Operations beyond this geographical area were not uncommon. There were many high points in the history of a musical corps that celebrated its 50th birthday. This also included numerous missions abroad, such as B. Concerts and major concerts in Bari and Piacenza ( Italy ) as well as Mont-de-Marsan ( southern France ), an assignment at the German performance show in Japan , music shows in Holland , France , Hungary and Canada , troop support in the USA , Canada, Great Britain and of Switzerland and inserts in Turkey , in Portugal , Belgium , Czech Republic , Romania and Austria , and in May 1998, the 40th International military pilgrimage to Lourdes (France).
But there were also numerous highlights in Germany. These included the incidental music for Rolf Hochhuth's Die Midwife , the setting for the Olympic Games in Munich 1972 , the appearance at the " Lustige Musikanten " on ZDF , as well as the NATO music festivals in Kaiserslautern and Mönchengladbach , the award of the Konrad Adenauer Prize in Munich Herkulessaal and international music shows in Karlsruhe , Bremen , Hamburg , Kiel , Braunschweig , Stuttgart and most recently in 1998 in the Olympiastadion Berlin on the 50th anniversary of the end of the Berlin blockade .
In addition to the large wind orchestra , the music corps had a “small wind ensemble” (approx. 15 men) and several chamber music ensembles to fulfill its diverse musical tasks .
