The Mountain Music Corps of the Bundeswehr (GebMusKorpsBw), until September 30, 2013 Mountain Music Corps Garmisch-Partenkirchen (GebMusKorps) was set up as the music corps of the 1st Mountain Division in 1956 in Sonthofen . After being stationed in Munich and Mittenwald in the meantime , it finally found its home in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 1963 . As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr, the Mountain Music Corps was subordinated to the Armed Forces Office and is therefore part of the armed forces base .
repertoire
The repertoire of up to 60 soldiers is just as varied as the musical line-ups with which they perform. The music corps can appear as a classical wood and brass ensemble or in dance music ensembles such as the jazz combo or the big band . Folkloric sounds can be heard from the Oberkrainer and the wind instrumentation. The "Alphorn group", the "Hüttn-Musi" and the "Stubn Musi" provide typical alpine music.
Wind band
The core of the traditional association is the large symphonic wind orchestra . The concerts are an integral part of the cultural calendar in numerous cities and regions; many millions of euros were raised in the past for charitable purposes.
In addition to the approx. 160 missions per year, which mainly take place in the Bavarian region, tours and invitations to international military music festivals abroad are part of the spectrum of missions. Canada, USA, Finland, Switzerland and Great Britain are representative of many assignments in the international area. With operations in Kabul , Afghanistan and Termez , Uzbekistan, the Mountain Music Corps was entrusted with the care of German soldiers in the operational area in previously unique missions in 2002 and 2003.
