Christoph Scheibling

Christoph Scheibling (* 1969 in Wipperfürth ) is a German conductor and officer . He holds the rank of lieutenant colonel and is head of the Bundeswehr music corps in Siegburg .

Career

After graduating from high school , Scheibling joined the military music service of the German Armed Forces in 1989 . At the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf , he studied conducting with Wolfgang Trommer and piano with Udo Falkner as part of his training to become a music officer and conductor . In 1996 he completed his studies in score playing and conducting. He has also played the trombone since childhood .

After a brief assignment in the Air Force Music Corps 2 in Karlsruhe , he was transferred to the staff music corps of the Bundeswehr in Siegburg in 1998 . There he led the chamber orchestra as the second music officer and gained his first experience as part of the protocol honorary service .

In October 2001 he took up his post as head of the Bundeswehr Mountain Music Corps in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . Under his direction, the music corps played at events such as the 2002 NATO Music Festival in Mönchengladbach , the Innsbruck Promenade Concert in 2003 and a guest performance in Budapest in 2004 when Hungary joined the EU .

In March 2007 he took over the leadership of the Air Force Music Corps 2 from Lieutenant Colonel Simon Dach. This was followed by appearances in Israel on the occasion of the 60th independence day of the state and the framing of the celebrations for the anniversary of the landing of the Allies in Normandy , both in 2008.

In 2009 and 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Scheibling headed a team of mentors that trained Afghan military musicians as part of the ISAF mandate . At the beginning of February 2010 he handed over the management of the orchestra and was transferred to Bonn. There he was deputy head of the Bundeswehr Military Music Center under Colonel Michael Schramm until 2012 .

As the successor to Lieutenant Colonel Walter Ratzek , he joined the Bundeswehr Music Corps in Siegburg in November 2012 . Under Scheibling's leadership there was u. a. from 2017 to 2019 a complete recording of the army march collection .
