task

The 50 musicians are deployed across the federal states of Thuringia , Saxony , Saxony-Anhalt , Brandenburg and northern Bavaria . The range of tasks includes deployments in the context of troop ceremonies such as vows, transfers of command, serenades and performances of the great tattoo. In addition, numerous concerts and participation in ceremonies inside and outside the Bundeswehr are an integral part of the duty roster.

history

Emerging from the Music Corps of the Land Forces Erfurt and the Staff Music Corps of the Land Forces of the National People's Army , the Air Force Music Corps Erfurt was set up in Erfurt in April 1991 as Heeresmusikkorps 70 and renamed Heeresmusikkorps 13 on July 1, 1994; from October 2001 to the end of March 2015, it appeared as Military Music Corps III. From April 1, 2015, it will be called the Air Force Music Corps Erfurt. The continuation of the music corps was uncertain for a long time. It was not until July 30, 2014 that Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen announced in the northern Thuringian garrison town of Sondershausen that the music corps in Erfurt would be retained and the dissolution planned for 2017 would not be pursued any further.
