Hermann Busch (officer)

Hermann Busch (born October 7, 1902 in Strasbourg , † after 1961 ) was an officer in the Air Force of the Wehrmacht and later in the Air Force of the Bundeswehr .

Life

Busch joined the Reichsmarine on May 2, 1921 and was appointed lieutenant at sea on October 1, 1927 . On October 1, 1926, he went to the German Aviation School in Warnemünde , where he began training as a pilot, observer and radio operator. Promoted to first lieutenant on July 1, 1929 , he moved to the Baltic Sea naval station on October 1, 1930 as a photo officer and pilot . After he was promoted to captain lieutenant on April 1, 1935 , he went to the Air Force as a captain on August 1, 1935 and held the position of group leader in the Aviation School 2 Warnemünde. Prior to 1936 on October 1, squadron commander in the first season of the coast Fliegergruppe 206 (1 (M) /Kü.Fl.Gr.206) on Norderney was, he completed an observer course. After his promotion to major on August 1, 1938, he took over the position of head of the training group in the command of the flying school and replacement department (lake) in Warnemünde. Subsequently, on April 1, 1939, he moved to the Higher Fliegerausbildungkommando 2 and from September 1, 1939 as a squadron captain to 1./Kü.Fl.Gr.506. Then, from April 1940, he went to the I. Group of Kampfgeschwader 26 (I./KG 26) as a group commander . With his group he took part in the Weser Exercise Company and in the Battle of Britain . On May 15, 1941, he received the Luftwaffe's Cup of Honor and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on July 1, 1941 , before receiving the German Cross in Gold on November 24, 1941 . He then led a substitute, January 31, 1943, the III./KG 100 , where he was promoted to colonel. From February 11th took over the tasks of a group commander of the reconnaissance group 126, which was renamed in May 1943 in maritime reconnaissance group 126 and was stationed in Norway . During this time he also led the command authority of the Fliegerführer Nord (West) and later of the Fliegerführer Eismeer . He stayed in Norway until the end of the war and finally led the air force as Fliegerführer 3 (until January 1945) and Fliegerführer 4 (until April 26, 1945). Then he was taken prisoner by the Allies.

In 1956 he joined the Air Force of the German Armed Forces and was the first chief of the Air Force Office as Brigadier General from April 1, 1958 to June 30, 1961 .
