Dionysius Will (born September 8, 1867 in Landersheim , † July 23, 1912 in Hœnheim ) was a Catholic clergyman and member of the German Reichstag from 1907 until his death.

Life

Will attended the elementary school in Landersheim from 1873 to 1881, received private lessons until 1883 and was at the Episcopal Gymnasium in Zillisheim until 1887 . After that he was at the seminary in Strasbourg until autumn 1889 and from Easter 1890 to autumn 1892 . He served from November 18, 1889 to March 18, 1890 with Infantry Regiment No. 28 in Ehrenbreitstein . Between 1892 and 1894 he was vicar in Bischheim and until 1896 vicar in Mülhausen (Mariahilf). From 1896 to 1900 he studied economics at the Universities of Münster , Munich and Berlin . In 1899 his dissertation ( The coalition rights of workers in Alsace-Lorraine compared to the rights in France and the German Empire ) appeared in print; Will was a doctor of political science ( Dr. oec. Publ. ).

From 1900 to 1904 he was vicar in the Strasbourg church of St. Ludwig / Saint-Louis ( Alsace-Lorraine had been "Reichsland" since 1871) and then studied theology in Freiburg until 1906 . On November 11, 1906, he became pastor in Hœnheim. He was the bearer of the Red Eagle Order IV class .

Will was elected to the Reichstag for the Alsace-Lorraine Center Party in 1907 in the constituency of Alsace-Lorraine 9 ( Strasbourg-Land ). In the first ballot he received 8,967 votes, the previous mandate holder Daniel Blumenthal 7,022 votes and the social democrat Richard Fuchs 3,993 votes. In the second ballot, Dionysius Will was elected with 10,252 votes and Blumenthal (9,255 votes) lost his constituency.

In January 1912 he was elected to the German Reichstag in the Alsace-Lorraine constituency 6 ( Schlettstadt ). Franz Xaver Haegy won the by-election after his death .
