Landersheim is a French commune with 199 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

Landersheim is eleven kilometers southeast of Saverne .

history

In the 16th century, Landersheim was a fief of the von Mittelhausen family. Felix von Mittelhausen introduced Protestantism in Landersheim around 1575 . The last von Mittelhausen died in 1634.

The community had the most inhabitants in 1821 (235), after which the number of inhabitants decreased. In 1954 and 1975 the municipality had the fewest inhabitants (104). After 1975 the village grew.

Attractions

The Saint-Cyriaque church was first mentioned in a document in 1454, but at that time it was consecrated to Ulrich von Augsburg . In 1804, Saint Cyriacus became the new patron of the church. The current nave was rebuilt in 1756. The choir is dated 1768. A sacristy was added in 1828.

A round public washing area ( lavoir ), which was mentioned for the first time in 1821, but possibly dates from the second half of the 18th century, is fed by a spring. Its diameter is about five meters.

The Landersheim watermill is dated 1808. The house and stables were built during this period, but the actual mill dates from the 12th century. It is powered by a stream called Rohrbach.

economy

Important occupations of the Landersheimois are agriculture , the breeding of domestic cattle and domestic pigs and viticulture . There is also a production site for the sporting goods manufacturer Adidas with around 400 jobs.
