Rosteig is a French commune with 537 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Saverne and the Canton of Ingwiller .
geography
The municipality of Rosteig is located in the northern Vosges , borders the Moselle department and is part of the Palatinate Forest-Vosges du Nord biosphere reserve . The Johannesberg district belongs to Rosteig .
Neighboring communities are Soucht and Meisenthal in the north, Wingen-sur-Moder in the south-east, Zittersheim in the south, Puberg in the south-west and Volksberg in the north-west.
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Rosteig belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Zabern district in the Lower Alsace district .
