history

middle Ages

The Lords of Lichtenberg bought half of the village from the Lords of Byseck in 1363 and assigned their share of it to the office of Ingweiler in the Lichtenberg domain . In the period that followed, the information about the extent of the part held by the von Lichtenbergs changed. It can also be that this was different in size at different times. It is stated that the village belonged entirely to the Lichtenberg rulership, but only 2/3 of the village in 1453.

In 1480, Count Jakob, the last male member of the von Lichtenberg family, died, his inheritance and rule were divided. The Ingweiler office belonged to the part of the inheritance that fell to Zweibrücken-Bitsch .

Modern times

However, there was another inheritance in 1570, when the Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg took possession of the Ingweiler office. At the end of the 18th century, Volksberg is no longer part of the County of Hanau-Lichtenberg .

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Volksberg belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Zabern in the district of Lower Alsace .
