Griesheim-sur-Souffel ( German: Griesheim ) is a French commune with 1,125 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). On January 1, 2015, the municipality moved from the Arrondissement Strasbourg-Campagne to the Arrondissement Saverne .
Griesheim is located in the Upper Rhine Plain in the middle of fields on the river Souffel (German: Suffel), on the north-western outskirts of Strasbourg . It's about seven kilometers from Griesheim to the center of the Alsatian capital.
The development goes directly to the north in the neighboring municipality of Pfulgriesheim . The neighboring towns in the south (i.e. towards the city) are Niederhausbergen and Oberhausbergen . The D31 departmental road, which runs northwest from Strasbourg, is the only regional road that runs along the eastern edge of Griesheim.
As in many suburban communities on the outskirts of large cities, Griesheim is also characterized by a village-like town center and subsequent suburban housing estates for commuters.
