Eschbourg (German Eschburg ) is a French commune with 484 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Saverne and the Canton of Ingwiller .

geography

The municipality of Eschbourg is located in the northern Vosges and is part of the Palatinate Forest-Vosges du Nord biosphere reserve . The Graufthal district also belongs to the community .

Neighboring communities are La Petite-Pierre in the north-east, Neuwiller-lès-Saverne in the east, Eckartswiller in the south-east, Vilsberg and Pfalzweyer in the south-west and Schœnbourg and Lohr in the north-west.

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Eschbourg belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Zabern in the district of Lower Alsace .
