Vilsberg ( German Wilsberg ) is a French commune with 357 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Phalsbourg .

Vilsberg is located about 17 kilometers east of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 200 and 316 m above sea level, the mean height is 273 m. The municipality covers 5 km².

The hamlets of Grand Pont ( Hochbruck ) and Guérberhoff ( Gerbhof ) belong to the municipality of Vilsberg .

history

The place belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
