Haut-Clocher (German Zittersdorf ) is a French commune with 348 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

Haut-Clocher is located about five kilometers northwest of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 245 and 315 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 11.44 km².

history

The place was mentioned in 1574 as Sittersdorff . The village was German until 1661, then became part of France, became German again in 1871 and then French again in 1919. In the period from 1939 to 1945 it was again under German administration and then again under French administration. The remains of an extensive Gallo-Roman settlement can be found near the district of Saint-Ulrich.
