history
Saint-Quirin was first mentioned in a document in 966. The name goes back to the Roman name Quirinus , a Roman tribune. The Marmoutier Abbey owned a priory in Saint-Quirin in the Middle Ages , which was destroyed in the Thirty Years War and partially rebuilt in the 18th century. A glass factory was established as early as the 15th century, primarily producing glasses for the Ducal Palace of Nancy . Until the French Revolution , the communities Métairies-Saint-Quirin and Vasperviller also belonged to Saint-Quirin. During the revolutionary years the city was temporarily called Cœur-Francs .
