Vescheim ( German Weschheim ) is a French commune with 321 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Phalsbourg .
geography
Vescheim is located on the eastern edge of the department, about 15 kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 237 and 295 m above sea level. The municipality covers 1.81 km².
history
The town was owned by the bishops of Strasbourg in the Middle Ages and belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
