Niderhoff (German Niederhof ) is a French commune with 285 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Niderhoff is located about eleven kilometers south of Sarrebourg on the White Saar at an altitude of between 272 and 376 m above sea level. The municipal area covers 5.30 km². The municipality borders on the Meurthe-et-Moselle department to the south .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1244 as Niderhovum and has belonged to France since 1661. In the years 1432 and 1665 Niderhoff was destroyed in the wars. In 1836 it still had 589 inhabitants, until the end of the First World War the place name Niederhoff was written.
