Moncourt is a French commune with 70 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Moncourt is located about eleven kilometers southeast of Vic-sur-Seille in the Saulnois at an altitude between 215 and 290 meters above sea level. The municipality covers 6.74 km². In the south, the municipality borders on the Meurthe-et-Moselle department ; the border runs here on the watershed between the catchment areas of Seille and Sânon .

history

The small village bore the German name Monhofen i.Lothr from 1915-18. (in contrast to Manom ). During the Second World War , the villagers were expelled by the Germans , the abandoned village was named Mohnhofen bei Duss from 1940-44 . In September 1944 the village was liberated.
