Guntzviller (German Gunzweiler ) is a French commune with 385 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

The municipality Guntzviller located about nine kilometers southeast of Sarrebourg on the watershed between the catchment areas of the Saar and anger in the Vosges . The municipality covers 5.39 km². The farms and hamlets of Gast, Langmatt, Neumuhle ( Neumühle ) and Wackenberg belong to the community of Guntzviller.

history

The place was first mentioned in 699 as villa Gundvino , was completely destroyed in the Thirty Years War and belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
