Barchain (German Barchingen ) is a French commune with 110 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

Barchain is located about seven kilometers southwest of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 282 and 312 m above sea level. The municipality covers 1.7 km².

history

The village has belonged to France since 1661, was under German administration between 1871 and 1919 and from 1940 to 1945.
