Plaine-de-Walsch (German Hochwalsch , 1940-44 Plinterwald ) is a French commune with 630 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Plaine-de-Walsch is seven kilometers south-east of Sarrebourg on the edge of the Vosges at an altitude between 238 and 414 m above sea level. The municipality covers 4.98 km².

history

The place was founded in 1707 by the Baron von Lutzelbourg as Plaine de Valche (plain of Walscheid ). In 1751 he was mentioned as a blind wash and in 1772 as a blind whale . The eastern hamlet of Rehthal also belongs to the municipality of Plaine-de-Walsch .
