Francaltroff ( German Freialtdorf ) is a French commune with 771 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).

geography

The municipality of Francaltroff is located on the Albe , about 17 kilometers southeast of Saint-Avold .

The hamlet of Koerperhoff ( Körperhof ) in the south belongs to the municipality of Francaltroff .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1240 and bore the official name Altdorf (Freialtdorf) while it was part of the German Empire (1871-1918 ) . During the liberation it was badly destroyed in World War II.
