Vieux-Lixheim (German Altlixheim ) is a French commune with 256 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .
geography
Vieux-Lixheim is located about eight kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 267 and 337 m above sea level, the mean height is 300 m. The municipality covers 6.45 km². The Bruch farm ( Bruchmühle ) also belongs to the municipality .
Neighboring communities of Vieux-Lixheim are Rauwiller and Schalbach in the north, Lixheim in the east, Brouviller in the southeast, Réding in the south and Hilbesheim in the west.
history
The origins of Altlixheim are closely linked to the Lixheim Monastery , a Benedictine monastery that was founded in 1107 and closed in 1550. Between 1629 and 1702 the place belonged to the Principality of Lixheim. Altlixheim was destroyed in the Thirty Years War.
