Berling ( German Berlingen ) is a French commune with 270 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Phalsbourg .

geography

Berling (Moselle) is located about 16 kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 220 and 308 m above sea level. The municipality covers 3.15 km².

history

The place was first mentioned as Bercilinga in 830 and belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
