The municipality of Fonteny is located in the Saulnois , eight kilometers northwest of Château-Salins at an altitude between 238 and 350 m above sea level. The municipality covers 15.7 km².

history

The village has belonged to France since 1661 and had the Germanized name Fonteningen from 1915-18 and jumping from 1940-1944 .
