Honskirch (German Hunkirch , 1941-44 Hunkirchen ) is a French commune with 224 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Honskirch is eight kilometers east of Albestroff on the border with the Bas-Rhin department at an altitude of between 213 and 252 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.55 km².

The village lies in a valley to the west by Hunnertberg , to the south by Remmelsberg and on the east by Tautzwinkelberg is framed, at the opening to the north is the Müller forest .

history

The official French name until 1870 was Hunkirich . After the First World War the name Honskirch was created.
