Metting (German and 1719: Mettingen ) is a French commune with 399 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

Metting is about 15 kilometers northeast of Sarrebourg and eight kilometers northwest of Phalsbourg on the border with Crooked Alsace at an altitude between 238 and 316 m above sea level. The municipality covers 5.21 km².

The hamlet of Graenzhoff (Grenzhof) also belongs to the municipality of Metting .

history

The place belonged to France from 1766, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
